Fabrication Capabilities

ATS delivers high-quality cooling solutions from prototype through high-volume production using a wide range of in-house fabrication methods. U.S.-based manufacturing enables rapid prototyping and design iteration, while global production supports cost-effective, scalable manufacturing.

Capabilities include precision machining, extrusion, skiving, stamping, welding, and sheet metal fabrication, supported by advanced equipment and expertise across aluminum, copper, plastics, and stainless steel.

Zipper Fin & Skiving

ATS provides high fin density heat sink solutions using zipper fin and skiving technologies, enabling efficient cooling for high-power applications. Pre-tooled zipper fin heat sinks offer a cost-effective, lightweight option with no NRE, making them ideal for rapid deployment and high-volume production.

Zipper fins use interlocked stamped metal sheets bonded to a base for high surface area and strong thermal performance, with options to integrate heat pipes or ducts. Skived heat sinks are machined from solid metal, producing extremely thin, closely spaced fins for maximum heat dissipation in compact spaces.

Precision Machining

ATS leverages advanced CNC machining to deliver high-precision components for heat sinks and complex enclosures. Using CAD-driven manufacturing, ATS ensures exact positioning, controlled machining speeds, and consistent quality-enabling fast, cost-effective production with minimal lead times.

With a range of CNC milling, punching, and bending equipment, ATS supports both prototyping and scalable production with tight tolerances and repeatability.

Electronic Enclosures

ATS designs and manufactures lightweight electronic enclosures and chassis for applications including cPCI, telecom, ATCA, and 1U/2U systems. Solutions are optimized for performance and protection, with integrated EMI/RFI shielding using pre-assembled housings and gaskets.

Selective plating enhances electrical contact, reduces emissions, and streamlines assembly. ATS supports a wide range of enclosure types using durable materials such as tin-plated CRS, nickel silver, and stainless steel.

3D Printing

ATS offers 3D printing services to create mock PCB boards for early-stage thermal testing and validation. These prototypes enable airflow and temperature analysis before final boards are manufactured, reducing design delays and avoiding costly PCB re-spins.

By testing printed boards in environments such as wind and water tunnels, ATS helps optimize PCB layout and cooling performance early in the design process - often eliminating the need for additional heat sinks or complex cooling solutions.

Die Casting

ATS provides die casting solutions for high heat dissipation applications, producing complex, high-precision parts with excellent surface finish and minimal secondary machining. This process enables high aspect ratio designs and tight fin spacing, making it ideal for efficient cooling in compact, high-power systems.

ATS supports both small and large-scale production across industries such as PCB, LED, automotive, telecom, and military electronics, with the ability to accommodate custom geometries and demanding thermal requirements. Both hot chamber (for low melting alloys) and cold chamber (for aluminum and high-temperature metals) casting methods are available.

Finishing Services

ATS offers a range of finishing services—including anodizing, plating, powder coating, and silk screen printing—to enhance durability and performance. These treatments improve corrosion resistance, wear protection, and surface emissivity, while meeting aesthetic and functional requirements.

Anodized heat sinks are available in multiple colors and provide added electrical isolation and improved thermal radiation performance.
