Die Casting

Casting Solutions for High Heat Dissipation Requirements

Die casting is the forcing of molten metals into a die cavity to create reproducible three-dimensional parts. It can quickly yield complex, precise, rigid cast parts with smooth surfaces that don’t need intense secondary machining. The casting process allows for much higher aspect ratios while fulfilling the requirements of small inter-fin spacing. Die casting is a practical way to produce high volumes of precision parts, especially for large solutions in applications that require unique shapes for accommodating the electronics.

Features and Benefits

  • ATS offers small to large die casting to cool modern components
  • Suitable for PCB’s, LED fixtures, auto, telecomm and military electronics
  • Casting can be combined with irregular surfaces (custom designs and hot surfaces)
  • ATS offers small to large die casting to cool modern components

Types of Casting

Hot Chamber Die Casting
Hot-chamber die casting can be used with zinc, magnesium and other low melting alloys using either our proprietary multi-slide or standard tooling. The hot-chamber process is ideal for metals that don’t readily attack and erode metal pots, cylinders, and plungers.

Cold Chamber Die Casting
Cold-chamber die casting is ideal for metals such as aluminum which have a high melting point. During this process, metal is liquefied in a furnace at extremely high temperatures and then ladled into a cold chamber to be injected into the die.
